Service in Private Sector
Meco-Tronics (P) Limited, Hyderabad
After coming out of College with B Tech degree in the year 1983, my career started in a Private company i.e. M/s Meco-Tronics Private Limited in the month of Ocotber 1984. Almost one year I was in search of suitable job staying at brother's house at Bholakpur, Hyderabad.
M/s Meco-Tronics was having marketing & servicing business of Plain Paper Copiers of RICOH Brand, Murphy Radios & Mecom Calculators at its branch situated in Hyderabad. The head office was in Madras (Chennai). I felt very happy to get my first job and to work in centre of the City i.e. Abids as a Service Engineer.
More happy to work with a nice (immediate) boss. I had a collegue Mr Sudhakar ( a diploma holder) who was interviewed & got selected along with me. We both were trained for one month at Madras in the month of October 1984. It was Mr Venkataraman, the Technical head (at HQs), who had taken very much care about us in everything during our 30-days stay at Madras. He even took special care for 6-days (when total TN along with Madras city was bandh on account of assassination of Mrs Indira Gandhi). All the Hotels/Cinema halls/Other establishments were bandh for one week. We were to rest on our Technical head even for food. I am always grateful to him for his special care.
After training, with in no time, I started providing good service to the Plain Paper Copiers (Automatic Xerox Machines) of Richo Murphy brand (1 2) which were competing with Canon & Modi brands and were just coming up in the market at that period while Manual Xeroxing started disappearing gradually.
I used to choose the customers (Government offices/commercial establishment/colleges etc) to whom the PPCs were supplied for a regular Preventive Maintenance (PM) of the Copiers apart from attending calls RANDOM on day to day basis. As we were paid for local auto conveyance, the Job looked easy and satisfactory. The Job confirmation letter, from local head, was received in June 1985. The life (still as bachelor) was happy and two years passed quickly in Meco-Tronics.
In August 1986, I had to say Good-bye to Meco-Tronics to jump into more secure Government Job i.e. APSEB.
